Today we are busy getting everything clean and shipshape for pzazz's quarantine which starts on Sunday. We are booked on a plane to Frankfurt on the 27 th of May, which seems really soon. Pzazz will enjoy the company of Nadia Coghlan's Northern Campion, and I will be reassured to have Nadias Dad traveling with us, as he is a vet. At present it is rather more scary than exciting for me. I will travel with Pzazz, and we will have an IRT groom as well. The folk at IRT have been really helpful, and very patient with all my phone calls and questions.
We will be staying with Susanne Miesner, who I met and had lessons with some years ago, having been introduced by Richard Weiss. She is a lovely person, very experienced with young horse competitions, and training for FEI. Susanne placed second at the world young horse championships the year I went to see Mary Hanna and Rituel compete there. Her horse ronaldo was highly placed in last years prestigious series for young Prix St Georg horses. She did her masters certificate at Gronwoldhof, and was co editor for the revisions to the FN's Handbooks. So she has one hell of a CV. Wietelshof will make a super home away from home for us, as it is a small very professionally run place, near to Warendorf. I won't get lost in the crowd, as there is no crowd. Most unfortunately I canot stay for the whle time due to my other commitments, so I will stay for 3 weeks to settle Pzazz in and then leave him in Frau Miesner's care. I plan to go back 4 weeks before the competition, then home for me again, and return to Germany in our spring to train the FEI movements before Pzazz goes into quarantine before the trip home. So by November the adventure will be over and all I'll have is the credit card to pay off.
Meanwhile its on with the preparations, the German lessons, the Gym, the Sports psychologist, and of course I do find time to ride and continue with the training with my great friend Jenny Crowley who has helped so much to supervise Pzazz's training thus far. It is wonderful to have such regular (twice a week) and consistent training. Of course Glennis Barrey keeps us all on track when she comes from Sydney, and Richard Weiss still helps when he has time.
